Getting Ready

We have finally reached the last month! The past couple of months have not been all that exciting. Just work and making it through all the HOT days!! All the doctor visits have gone well! Heartbeat always sounds great and he is head down and low. Hopefully he stays that way! We took a 4 week baby course and that was fun. We learned a few things and I am now ready to go into labor!! Phil also turned 25 on August 18 so we threw him a surprise party. It was a great time! It was so nice to relax with tons of friends and focus on something that wasn't baby. He had a great time and was really shocked we did that for him.
We also started working on Harper's room. I have been waiting a long time for this part but I held off because I figured once I started I would want him to arrive now!(and I was right!) I put together the crib and changing table and repainted one wall. We still have work to do. We are having some friends paint a mural on the wall for us. We went with a "Where the Wild Thing Are" theme so they will paint a tree, Max, and a couple of monsters for us. It should be amazing! We also have the baby shower coming up on September 7th so that should be a good time. After that we will finish getting all the things we need and then we will be good to go! As of right now the due date is about 4 weeks away so we have anywhere from 2-6 weeks! Lets hope he really wants to meet us soon(but I won't hold my breath!)

Summer

Life has been pretty hectic in the Simmons household. Since my last blog Harper has grown quite a bit and can kick like a soccer player. I have also changed jobs and we have gone on vacation to Oregon for my sister-in-law's graduation. It was a lot of fun to get away from Iowa and hang out with family. This was our last big vacation before Harper is with us on the outside....because I definitely felt him with us from the inside. Other than that everything seems to be going great. Our last doc appointment went well. The only thing is that I never get to hear his heartbeat for more than 2 seconds. The midwives can't keep up with him bouncing around and they get frustrated, so as soon as they can catch a little bit they are done with him. It's kind of cute...he does have his father in him already. And as of today Phil and I have been married for 3 years so yeeaaahhh us!!

And I'm a....
We found out on May 1 that we have a little boy kicking around in my stomach!! He weighs a whole 9oz. right now and is very active. It was so wonderful to finally be able to give him an identity. We will be calling him, as many of you know already, Harper Ash Simmons. The ultrasound lady and midwife says he looks great and his heartbeat sounds wonderful. Now it is just waiting till he comes! 1 more week and we will officially be halfway through the pregnancy. Please keep praying that he stays healthy and active(I get sad when I can't feel him for a while :)

The first blog
Welcome to Baby Simmons Blog site. We are going to try to keep updates and things like that so hopefully we will keep up with this. To start out we discovered on January 18,2008 that the first Baby Simmons would be making its way into the world.Baby is due September 30, 2008,(but we are hoping it will show up one the first few days in October) at this point we are 17 weeks along. I just started to get a belly and baby is starting to move around just a little. Our second ultrasound is scheduled for May first. This is the big one so hopefully we will find out if there is a little boy or girl swimming around in my stomach. They will also check to make sure everything looks good and other such thing. So pray that goes well and that baby cooperates.
